  1. Active Cold War 2 is already in place for 4 years. Like the Cold War 1, Space War is the new frontier of conflict, but the stakes are higher and the technology generally more advanced and deadly. The very poor showing of the Russian Invasion of Ukraine is the only thing holding the PLA off Taiwan for a while longer than expected. This gives a breathing space for Taiwan to consolidate it's defenses and to reach out diplomatically to other democratic powers, plus East Asia and South-East Asia to further re-arm their defences in case of non-intervention from the United States. An unlikely but possible scenario. The ultimate political goal for China is simple; Worldwide authorianian and totalitarian hegemony, which it would prefer to do without kinetic warfare. That is, tge CCP's aim of the political extinction of democracy and rule of law. The poltically naive are unaware of the serious threat to their unchecked power these ideals of democracy and rule of law is to the CCP, or why stamp it out in Hong Kong in the first place and to constantly threaten Taiwan, it's next goal of extirpation? As the philosopher-soldier Carl Von Clausewitz said; "war is a continuation of politics by other means".
