  1. Most of the fear is due to miseducation/misperceptions. Coal power plant waste is often as radioactive as nuclear power waste but while all nuclear waste ever produced would fit in a football field sized space six feet deep, all the coal waste would take up incalculable space. And no one freaks out when coal waste is often spilled or dumped into water supplies.
