  1. The one thing to keep in mind about the sinking of Kako is that the old S boats used the old Mark 10 torpedo. Their torpedo tubes were too short to accept the new Mark 14 torpedoes.

  2.  @bluelemming5296  regarding the range of cruiser guns vs battleship guns, USS Saint Paul used special long range bombardment shells (4.125" shell in sabot) to fire in targets at 70,000 yards in Vietnam. It would have been fascinating to see what the similar saboted 11" shell concept could have done for the Iowa's range.
