@23:30 ten 8" guns, don't forget the Pensacola class cruisers of the USN, although that layout was promptly dropped in the next class.

I've pointed out elsewhere that Salt Lake City was the best available possibility for the Battle of the Kommandorski Islands in 1943 specifically because of its balanced gun layout. Any other heavy cruiser the US would ever have during the war would have lost 40% of the firepower for that stern chase battle. Pensacola was the only ship that could match it, but it took a torpedo at Tassafaronga and would be in repairs until November 1943, unavailable in April.
