  1. My rule is still never buy a new car. Let some sucker take the initial depreciation hit and discover any subtle problems that might be lurking. Second rule is never set foot in a dealership, if you can possibly help it. Third rule is buy a Toyota product. There's nothing more annoying than car repair issues...well, almost nothing. If you're physically able, do simple things like oil and filter changes, brake pad replacement, etc. yourself. You want to know exactly what goes into and on your car. NEVER trust a dealer. He's on the other side of the dollar. And sabotage isn't unheard of.

  2. Years ago I knew a man who bought a new Bentley. I drove it shortly after he took delivery. It was severely out of line. Tires weren't balanced and there was an odd rattle that turned out to be loose lug nuts! There was an obvious upholstery defect, too. He wound up selling it (VERY lucky) after less than 2 yrs. because it spent so much time in the shop (of course). He then followed my lead to Lexus.
