  5. That's a very unintelligent attitude. Strategically it's very important to be able to make fuel and of course the cost of transporting it to where you need it can be extreme - so what if you can make it there instead? Plus why pay Russia to upgrade its air defences?

  6. Impossible is an unwise word to use. Developments are happening all the time and the RAF is future proofing itself. As fossil fuel costs go up, biofuel is going to look more attractive and the cost of producing it will only go down with technology.

  7. ...because you can get it from a supplier who is your friend instead of paying an enemy - or at least you can spread your cost. If it turns out to work well you can get them to invest in UK production.
