Tom, it's nice to see you're in San Francisco - the city by the bay.
I grew up in San Francisco during the late 70's to mid 80's, when it was, in my opinion, a beautiful and relatively safe place to live. It appears that in the past decade crime, not only in San Francisco but in many metropolitan cities across our country, has run rampant with little to any consequence.
I believe much of this, at least in California, has to do with the laxed laws for both petty theft and grand theft, and the fear of the ACLU citing infringements on civil liberty rights, which limits the prosecutors and judges ability to prosecute and convict criminals to the fullest extent of the law, respectively. In California, the only way to change much of this is up to the state legislatures at the state Capitol in Sacramento, as well as California Governor Gavin Newsom. If Newsom ever plans on running for president in the near future he needs to get a handle on theft, organized crime, illegal drug manufacturing and sales, homelessness, illegal immigrants crossing over the border, and $6.59 per gallon gas prices, just to name a few.
I've voted for Newsom in the past, and I would love to see him as president in the near future. However, if he doesn't take action and gain control of crime and the other issues I've mentioned, I will NOT vote for him in future elections. π 2024 πΊπΈ
