I agree that racism towards black African Americans and Hispanics still exist, but I feel that many individuals use this as a crutch or an excuse to hold themselves back. There are many "blacks" and browns that have become very, very successful, and they didn't use racism as an obstacle to hold them back.
Of all the actors in Hollywood, it is a black man who has earned more than any other actor. Samuel L. Jackson has earned nearly twice as much in his lifetime of acting as his nearest white counterpart.
For all the years that this wealthiest white musician has performed (60 years), he still falls well short to this relative newcomer. Paul McCartney's net worth is said to be close to one billion dollars. Kanye West's net worth is $1.5 billion and climbing.
Here are more blacks that have found success: Oprah Winfrey, Tiger Woods, Byron James, Simone Boyles, Dr. Ben Carson, President Barack Obama, General Colin Powell, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Mike Tyson, Hank Aaron, Kamala Harris Darius Rucker, Charlie Pride, Michael Jackson, and the list goes on and on and on. And the same can be said about Hispanic and or Latino Americans.
My grandparents were from the "greatest generation". They like many others of their time had to struggle considerably more than any of us have to today. They survived the Great Depression, WWII, and immigration to America to start a new life. There weren't nearly as many civil and social help programs then as there are today.
Life is what YOU make of it.
