There are no nuclear missiles in NATO countries except for nuclear powers like Britain and France. However its Russia always putting nuclear missiles close to borders, even way back in cold war times. Remember Cuban missile crisis? Russia has always been provocateur and aggressor. Russia is one of two countries (other is North Korea) that continue to use nuclear threats. Rest of the civilized world don't do this.

Because countries not under NATO like Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan and in the past Chechenya are always harrassed and invaded by terrorist Russia. This does not happen with countries under NATO. Many ex-Soviet and ex-Warsaw pact countries joined NATO to protect themsevles from terrorist Russia.

Look what happened to countries with no NATO protection like Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Azerbaijan and Chechenya in the past like always having problems with Russia harrassing and invading. Ukraine is just the latest Russian venture to grab more land. Way more dangerous not to be a NATO member when the neighbor is terrorist Russia.
