@brosk1s883 that’s it. Freight is usually longer distances, more chance there’s a piece of non electrified track, so diesel(-electric) is a sad reality, not a perfect solution. But it could be true hybrid though: only diesel assistance where it’s the only possibility. And then as a priority upgrading all tracks to (uniform) electric.

I’m pretty sure the best scientists and engineers get the best payed jobs. But that has nothing to do with the quality of their work, nothing to do with their contributions to their fields of expertise, once they’re employed there. One can even say exactly the opposite: if they already work for the biggest companies and get the best wages, is it still in their (and the company’s) interest to innovate. Don’t they stand in the way of - or at the sideline - the green transition? These companies seem to have little to no interest in durable innovation because the status quo still is profitable. Compare it to a football team buying the best players to sit on their bench, so their talents can’t be used against them. And in that perspective, western capilism is a b*!ch.
