5:45 ‘there is no competition, we’re all partners in the green transition.’ And that, kids, is why it’s failing.
Examples:
The biggest floating windfarm in the world is off the coast of Norway and could power 500.000 homes. But it doesn’t. It doesn’t come to shore. It feeds its electricity to oil and gas rigs. So that’s green now?
Since the Green New Deal in the US, permits for fracking sites tripled; pipelines and harbour installations for shipping this gas to Europe get subsidised.
In Europe there’s new import taxes on EVs (solar PVs, …?) from China; VW decided to cut the budget for r&d on EVs, Exxon, Shell, BP, … all took a (big) step back from investing in renewables.
And what about that crazy idea hydrogen, green diesel, carbon capture and nuclear will save us by next week, while it’s clear they will not be around soon enough.
That last COP in the Middle East was a succes?
