  1. The creativity insurance companies use to not fulfill their side of the contract is dazzling. You have to be insured, you make your payments, you do everything you can to stay out of trouble, not damage anyone’s property. And when something goes wrong and you need your insurance - you consider yourself lucky you’re insured - they find a way to get out of it and you’re on your own.

  2. You probably can’t extinguish the burning EV, but you can prevent the fire from spreading by cooling the surroundings … with water. A well trained crew should be able to respond correctly and keep the fire in control. Second: a shipping company should know what’s on board and should do the risk assessment before even loading the ship. So I think this is a case of insurance companies trying to hold each other responsible mixed with a bit of anti EV propaganda.
