I’m not saying what you’re telling isn’t true, but I think it’s a bit far fetched. Ukraine as part of Nato would sooner or later mean an American military (naval) base or at least presence in the black sea. Inevitably. Proof? Increased US military presence in the Chinese Sea perhaps? And Russia thought it had an agreement with NATO: Russia would not expand, NATO would not expand (especially not to to former USSR nations). There could be economic partnerships and agreements, but no (geo)political or military. And NATO (US) violated (and still violates) that agreement.
So now there’s 2 possible outcomes for Ukraine:
1. They survive, maybe join NATO, maybe at least accept US military presence ,and pay back their debt to the US (military support isn’t free when it comes from the US, and a loan to rebuild the country isn’t cheap either). So they will be on the same level as most 3rd world countries.
2. They loose and join Russia. Shot to pieces. USSR 2.0
And maybe a 3rd option: the war goes on, and their financial deficit to the US keeps on growing!
So for the US: every scenario is (economically) a win, because, win or loose, EU still has to pay back it’s military support. And don’t forget US oil and gas from now on, no more Russian ofcourse.
For EU: every scenario is a loss. Maybe a bit less refugees from that region in scenario 1 and 2.
