james Deer There were no afghans in mosul. Only ISIS. And it was actually the iraq army along with various militias and the kurdish peshmerger who eventually liberated it. The arty was used probably too prevent heavy losses from street fighting due to IS mentality. IS had committed genocide in the city on various groups for the 3 years it held it and destroyed lots of historically famous buildings as well.. Rumsfeld was also US defence secretary in 2001 to 2006 11 years before the mosul recapture.

Respect if that is your view but more likely you are using it to blame ukraine for defending itself. Remember only one country is having its territory invaded and its civilians killed here.

@johnadam2885 You mean the "war on terror" after 9/11 and the islamic fundamentalists declaration of war on the west. Obama said it would take 20 years to win it and now 20 odd years later after afghanistan no major terror attacks on the west. So hopefully, fingers crossed, that war has now been won. Not whims but national security were the reasons for iraq and afghanistan. National security as in protecting its citizens from attack from terrorists being hosted by same religion unfriendly middle eastern sunni governments.
