@somethingelse9535 "Got something he wanted" How about safety for him and his family? Thats how putin got yeltsin to name him as his successor. Thats how he got gorbachov to back his narrative. Thats why nobody speaks out against him. Those that do are either silenced permanently or with jail time. And those actions are carried out by the FSB. They are his people. Ex kgb just like him. It may well be that progohzin stands against him in russias next supposed democratic election, but that election and media will be rigged towards putins party as it always is. Will the russian people then rise up and demonstrate their opposition to the result like the ukranians did with yanukovych in 2004 and then against his authoritarian actions in 2013/14? I doubt it.

I dont think the FSB control putin. I think its the other way around. Any news on prighozins family? I assume they are in russia, so subject to threats. The sort of threats that a mafia and its godfather would undertake if threatened. Though you would have expected that prigohzin would have anticipated that? Maybe his rebellion was all a bit rushed as he new he was about to lose his private army to his hated rivals shoigu and gerasimov? Maybe he had promised backing from somebody else like kadyrov but they didnt follow through? Usually anybody who crosses putin is a dead man walking. He seems to be a popular figure in russia so putin might hold off for a bit on that? Maybe a "died of natural causes, special assassination operation" is being prepared for later? Lots of question marks still for me. Whatever, it will be interesting to see what else is discovered about this deal. A very strange ending to the rebellion.
