  1. The law of the land needs to be at least a reasonable reflection of community standards. Judges need to embody those standards. If this judge sees the death of a child as not being that serious then things are very badly out of alignment. And I agree, if it's not a setup to bring in gun control, then it will certainly be seized upon as an excuse to do so.
