@67nextday I think the vast majority of people watching this video will have never even heard of the Chagos Islands before, but will look for any excuse to moan about Labour and Starmer. If they hadn't been returned, they'd no doubt be criticised for breaking international law. You realise there's a US air force base there, don't you?

@67nextday As we've already established, it wasn't a decision by a single person - it was decided by the UN and the ICJ. Local voices weren't ignored. Nobody even lives there. Parliament members weren't ignored. It was the last government that agreed to it and began the process.

@67nextday The international community did not support the British claim to the islands. At the UN general assembly in 2019, 116 countries supported Mauritius, 55 abstained and 5 voted in favour of the UK. You might want to take your own advice about "learning more about the issue".
