  2. It's actually very easy to explain how Sowell is wrong here. In the US, the population has always grown through individual immigrants who wanted to come voluntarily to make a success of their lives as Americans. (this excludes those who arrived as slaves of course) In the Austrian Empire, the population grew because the Habsburg family acquired whole provinces and even nations through marriage or force. Those populations did not voluntarily join the Empire and never wanted to become "Austrians".

  4. He was wrong about literally everything. I've never head a more clueless description of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It was cobbled together mostly through marriage and spent its entire 115 year history barely surviving internal strife and division. The Austrian Army was for most of that time, a failure on the battlefield because the officer corps was mostly German but the troops spoke FOURTEEN different official languages

  5.  @chrissingletary2876  It's not of course. As I wrote above, the Empire had 14 official languages. Also they had no immigration in the Empire. They did they exact OPPOSITE of the US. The Hapsburgs took over whole provinces and countries by marriage and incorporated them into their empire. It a completely ignorant video on a historical basis.
