  1. I used to work in the medical device industry and military work was insane. Regulatory specifications and the paper trail required increases costs exponentially. There is no such thing as an off-the-shelf component. Every single component was custom made. Then you have to buy the custom, one-off inventory and hold it for dozens of years for spares and repairs. That’s just the hardware. Don’t even get me started on the software insanity.
