@georgegreen4819 NATO is hard pressed to do much more. A direct conflict with Russia could lead to nuclear war. Ukraine is not worth that to anyone.

@volkerr. are you mad? These guys spend decades preparing for something like this. EU and some of the US will be gone in less than an hour after.

From the report on this video Jen Stoltenberg made a statement like its a profound revelation and then said they are already doing it. He seems like a useless mouthpiece. For him to be considered useful it has to be shown where he brokered some help that would not have come without his intervention.

@clavo3352 no I have not but I have done some international law. Have you ever lead a jury to a conviction or an acquittal, especially in the relevant area of international law?
2
That will be a long way off. I assume some of the equipment and help they got has to be repaid. Even if its under the table payments (ie contracts to US firms).

@peterduxbury927 no Zelensky's targets are stupid and he knows that. He just like s the limelight.

@volkerr. so this shows men on rooftops is better than air defense missiles. Considering their cost that's a much cheaper solution too.
1
@wolfvale7863 definitely agree with you that the cheapest method that is effective is the best solution. Of course you need men at every "important" location but I suspect Ukraine has this. I do not trust Ukraine's reports. They do not make logical sense. The proof of the pudding is no more blackouts when drones and missiles continue to be send by Russia.

@mssuskar Zelensky will not negotiate. It ends the biggest acting sting he has ever had. He like the world stage. US is pushing to the point where they can get away with it. once it reaches to nukes in their minds the assistance to Ukraine will stop. They will never risk nuclear war over a useless country (to them) like Ukraine. Its just a pawn, not a queen.

@georgegreen4819 I agree this war has shown Russia's military flaws. That works both ways. NATO now knows a lot more but so does Russia. Will Russia remedy the problems meaningfully going forward? Who knows. I agree too Russia is bleeding resources on this. Much smaller economy than the US so they are going to hurt more. Losing the EU market is a good thing in the long term. Russia was getting soft. Now they cannot rely on the west and will start to make structural changes. If they are smart they will diversify their economy and move away from hydrocarbons. Its a dead product in a decade or two anyway. With respect to NATO expansion the only states that matter are Ukraine and Belarus. Norway and Sweden are irrelevant. Looks bad on paper but really can NATO mount an invasion from Finland with that lovely terrain? Exactly they are not relevant. The Baltic states are much more useful to NATO. Now that can be a staging ground. Of course Poland is more than happy to get into the action too. That should be Russia's concern.

@AL-rf2fr you have a lot more confidence than most of the militaries in NATO. Lets hope Russia does not prove you wrong.
1
@AL-rf2fr yes I think Russia will risk nuclear war over this if pushed enough. Will the west risk it over Ukraine? I think not. You will see how fast the BS about EU values disappear.
1
@wolfvale7863 impossible actually. No chips to bargain with any nation.
1
@wolfvale7863 I really doubt he is steering anything. He is just the face. Say what he is told.

Ukraine is providing the muscle alone. Largely the brains and equipment is supplied by others, mostly US.
