  1. Humans have observed weather patterns for 1000s of years. When there's a deviation from the expected pattern, especially where it causes negative effects, humans get very anxious. It creates an existential fear. The debate that ensues always comes down to one critical question. Was it our fault? Or was it coincidental? This debate still rages on even today and that anxiety has been used to exploit the ignorant and the fearful of authority and resources throughout civilisation.

The age of enlightenment and reason emancipated mankind from the mysticism and superstition that exploited our existential fears by confirming that the universe is indifferent to humans and we are not responsible for adverse weather. Ironically that very same 'science' is being used to rebrand and relaunch the 'divine retribution' exploitation playbook.
