Comments by "David Ford" (@davidford3115) on "What Do Military Simulations Show About Taiwan?" video.
@danielch6662 You got that bass ackwards. Taiwan is NOT the Donbas. For one, the Donbas has a land border with Russia. Taiwan does not. Secondly, the Chinese military's tussles with the Indian military have shown that they are just as unruly and unprofessional as the Russian military.

@刘振东-d6i Yeah, the Indians have video of that engagement, and it tells a VASTLY different story. It shows the PLA behaving more like street muscle rather than a professional military force. When your army acts more like organized crime than a disciplined military, you are in deep trouble. That is something China has in common with Russia.

@olderchin1558 The Russia-Chinese land-based supply lines are unreliable at best. How much actually transits the trans-Siberian Railway from European Russia to Manchuria? Not nearly as much as you think. And the energy pipelines that feed Europe do NOT have a direct link to the Russian pipelines that connect to China. They are two separate systems.

@ROTHSTEIN01 I hope so. But I don't think the Indians have been convinced to join that fight just yet. They have their own priorities to worry about which I entirely understand. The trick is, can the West convince India that it is in their best interest to join the battle?

@EvanFAF We also have a shared heritage as colonies of the crown. We both advocate for local self-determination and de-colonization. The strife with the USSR and the fact that we allied with the UK is why India and the US have been strained since the 1950s.
3
@Dept246 You are rationalizing (ie making exuses fallacy). Fact is, the Indians have a disciplined, professional military while the PLA has degenerated into street thugs.
3
@olderchin1558 You must have issues listening or understanding as I already explained it to you if you bothered to actually read. Power of Siberia does NOT connect to the oil and Gas pipes that power Europe. And the European connected fields are far more productive and profitable than the ones connected to China. The Sakhalin wells are nowhere near as developed as you claim, barely breaking even at the best of times. Further, the LNG carriers are easy pickings for submarines if you know anything about how American subs like USS Albacore operated in WW2.
3
@octoslut A paper tiger is what Russia clearly was. The US only becomes a paper tiger if its power is seriously challenged, something that nobody has done yet. A fight over Taiwan might prove that there is more fight in the US than you think.
3
Yeah, the idea that China's industrial and production capacity would not be targeted in a war with the US is naive. The video's assumption of that point is not based on reality.
2
@octoslut You are just wildly speculating. The fact that US forces were fighting in both Afghanistan AND Iraq at the same time is proof that the US CAN fight a two-front war. The full might of the US military has not been brought to bear since Korea in 1950-53.
2
@octoslut Logistics, dude. You can't fight a war on ONE front with bad logistics as Russia has shown. The fact that the US could even fight two against an inferior foe on two fronts already shows a capability that far exceeds any other power. What is it that US Generals love to say? "Amateurs talk tactics, but professionals talk logistics"? Guess who is an amateur? Cope harder.
2
Well, it doesn't help that the US is still in bed with Pakistan, despite them being in the Chinese orbit. I would gladly trade the Mullahs of Islamabad for the Rajahs of India.
1
Yeah, the idea that China's industrial capacity will remain intact after a conflict with the US over Taiwan is kind of naive. The whole purpose of strategic bombing campaigns in WW2 was to demolish the ability of the Axis to manufacture their war materials. I doubt that China has hardened their infrastructure to the degree that Ukraine has.
1
@LONEWOLF-rq5tl You have no understanding of how either amphibious landings or airborne assaults work. China has shown zero capacity to do either effectively.
1
@olderchin1558 India and China are ripping off Russia, demanding a 30% discount on oil and gas. Don't pretend it is any way helping the Russians. If anything, it is hurting them. You are grasping at straws.
1
@k.k.c8670 Didn't bother to read my other posts, only the first one huh? I addressed that. Power of Siberia is NOT connected to the oil and gas infrastructure that connects to Europe; they are two separate systems. The Trans-Siberian Railway has pittance as far as cargo delivery and completely incapable of fully replacing the sea-based transportation. Try do a little more research before you open your mouth in complete ignorance.

China does NOT have a market economy; the government still controls everything. All business assets can be confiscated by the CCP without due process. And the implosion of the financial system in China only drives home that fact. Secondly, reason has nothing to do with invading Taiwan. It is about PRIDE. Xi thinks he is the reincarnation of Mao, and wants to forcibly reunite Taiwan for his ego and vanity.
1
I suspect that the Taiwanese would use Erwin Rommel's plan for the defense of Normandy that Hitler rejected. The Taiwanese would make Bloody Omaha look like an elementary school slap-fight.
1
@deanzaZZR Garbage in, garbage out. The numbers that the IMF uses is based on the worthless numbers that China gives it. Money spent on bridges to nowhere may raise the GDP and LOOK like growth when in fact it does nothing of value.
1
@danielch6662 And that 2-3 generation old US equipment being used in Ukraine is absolutely mauling the Russians and their Chinese made equipment. Cope harder.
