@ionnanskilliorus6877 You are conflating SOCIAL DEMOCRACY with Democratic Socialism (aka Bolshevism). There are TWO critical points which make Scandinavia's SOCIAL DEMOCRACY work as well as it does. The first is that they are 98% ethnic homogeneous. They are more ethnically monolithic than countries like South Korea and Japan. It makes a MAJOR difference because of a lack of competing priorities when everyone holds the same cultural values. The second is the oil and gas deposits which are eclipsed only by Russia's Siberian deposits (which are technically in Asia, not Europe). The oil pays for EVERYTHING. Without it, Those Scandinavian countries would still be in developing economy status, just barely above mud huts. There are many documentaries about how the oil changed Nordic society in the late 1960s

Yeah, they are kind of idealistic when it comes to the changes in Central and South America, as if they never studied the history of the region.

@wh34t_ It is actually much easier that you think. When Cubans are making rafts made out of trash to get to the US, you don't get to whine and complain that it is too difficult to move from one country to a different one.

@wh34t_ Nice goal post and blame shifting there. You didn't address my points at all, you just bloviated with emotional outburst like a spoiled child. And since you brought up North Korean refugees, most of them agree with those of us who are critiquing your argument. They would call you out for supporting the very ideologies they fled from.

@prioris55555 Watched the same video I did and then did the follow up research I see? Well done, better than most other internet "experts". And that is not sarcasm, it is sincere praise for you. I also like to point out that they moved SLOWLY. They built up and modernized at a controlled and methodical pace, not rabid modernization which always topples because weak fundamentals.

Indeed. They don't actually dig deeper into the issues and the history of the region. They just take left-wing talking points at face value and ignore the nuance.

@NickSteffen Which isn't socialist. It is right wing capitalism. Socialism by definition is centrally controlled and planned command economy, while free-trade and Laissez-faire is capiitalist.

@wh34t_ You have clearly never read Karl Marx, Vlad, Lenin, Chairman Mao, or Pol Pot. Socialism by definition REJECTS private property ownership. "Workers seizing the means" is just a fancy way of saying theft of property which is the lynchpin of a successful economy. Without property rights, NOTHING can function properly. Instead of simply repeating empty slogans, how about you look at the country who have "Socialist" in their name. Most of the ones in Central and Eastern Europe will tell you EXACTLY what Socialism is because they lived under it. Incidentally, the Trucker and Farmer protests ARE the "workers revolution" you call for, but one that REJECTS your ideology and proposals.

@titus_philemon You seem to forget that the Catholic Church is anti-gay. So, in Catholic dominated Latin America, being pro-LGTBQ is VERY progressive and left leaning. There was a time in the not so distant past when gays in the Latin community were persecuted and, in some cases, murdered and the government simply looked the other way.
