Don't count your eggs before they hatch. Same thing was said about the defense of Kiev. They said the same thing about Kherson. One thing you people keep doing is grossly underestimate the Ukrainains.

If Ukraine didn't have a chance, then Kiev would have fallen on Day One of the invasion. It is now Day 514.
3
Don't counter your eggs before they hatch. Ukraine always said their counter-attack was going to be slow and methodical. A Kherson style rather than Karkov.

@deedat81 A "perfect" victory is one in which you never fire a shot. That is essentially what Russia got in 2014. Their attempt to repeat it in early 2022 failed spectacularly.

@apsurd.apsurda If over a thousand days go by of active combat, it is likely the UAF will be at the doors of Moscow. The elite units of Russia such as 1st Guards Tank Army and the 155th Naval Infantry have been ground to dust.

@apsurd.apsurda Nice appeal to emotion logical fallacy. Also, Russia and the US are NOT the same. Apples to oranges false analogy. For one, Russia forbids private ownership of firearms. Second, the fact that Wanger got so far down the highway unopposed shows that not even the Russians are willing to defend their own territory.

@jeremypuckett9533 Ukraine tried to set expectations low. The Russians will try to claim anything less than a rapid breakthrough is a failure. The Land battle for Guadalcanal in WW2 was several months long.
1
Russia already lost when they failed to capture Kiev. They failed to prevent the expansion of NATO since both Sweden and Finland are now members. By and REASONABLE metric, Russia has already lost as thoroughly as the Japanese did at Midway and Guadalcanal.
1
@skp8748 Yeah, I suspect your "Crimean celebrations" were staged just like Russia was going to do when they marched into Kiev. Look up what a Potemkin Village is.
1
So long as Russia holds Crimea, they threaten Odessa. That makes it a non-starter to any peace deal.
1
Since the sinking of the Moskva, the threat of Odessa being invaded from the sea evaporated. And the Kherson retreat closed the door on a land invasion of the city. So, to answer your question, there isn't even a reason to ask.
1
@coderentity2079 The Russian Black fleet has essentially retreated to Novorossiya. Sure, they can lob missiles as Odessa, but the possibility of capturing it is astronomically small and would first require a complete collapse of Ukrainian morale.
1
@coderentity2079 Why is it that people think Trump wouldn't support Ukraine? Putin didn't dare do anything while "orange man" was in the White House. He stole Crimea while Biden was directing Obama's foreign policy. He invaded after Joe Bite-me got elected. If anything, it is the Bidens who have been Putin's greatest ally. It has taken the Brits to brow-beat the White House into getting off its duff. While the US has been supplying the most, it is only because the UK and the Warsaw Pact NATO members have shamed the White House into doing so.

Kremlin propaganda will make you think the sky is green. Oryx tells a vastly different story. One that makes me ask where you even get your statistic of 30% from. BTW, Oryx uses visual confirmation, so your "Russian sources" unless they have photo evidence is just embellishment (vranyo).
1
Where have I heard that before? Oh yeah, the presumed fall of Kiev. Just like then you people vastly underestimate the Ukrainians.
1
The Black Sea Fleet has already essentially relocated to Novorossiya. What remains there now is just a token force just to say that they are still there.
1
Funny how people conveniently ignore that Russia has violated every agreement it ever made with independent Ukraine.
1
Territory that Russia stole from TUkrey, who stole it from Kevian Rus. We can play the very same game that La Raza loves to play regarding Texas and California.
1
Don't count your eggs before the hatch. How long did the Kherson offensive last? Longer than the current one, that is for sure.
