@_TeXoN_ Actually, you have that bass ackwards. Per kilowatt hour, nuclear is hands down the cheapest and safest. Solar and wind have NEVER met claimed expectations.

@Wilhelm Eley Hydro elected is also heavily dependent on rather drastic elevation change, storage capacity of said reservoir, as well as consistent rains to maintain that reservoir supply. While Bavaria can make use of damns (assuming their greenies don't make a big stink, and they invariably do), Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Schleswig-Holstein, and Lower Saxony being relatively flat cannot make use of hydro-electric damns.

Russia doesn't like competition. Ukraine's oil, gas, and coal reserves threatened Putin's Europe monopoly. Get you head out of your rear; this war is all about oil.

@Wilhelm Eley Is that what the Kremlin told you? The oil deposits off the coast of Crimea alone would make Ukraine the 6th largest proven reserves in the world, just behind Norway. Shell had signed contracts in 2012 with Ukraine to exploit the fields under Donbas before Russia instigated rebellion in that area. Or have you forgotten those dirty little details?
