@willywonka4340 What was it that General Joe Stilwell said about Chaing Kai? "He is an SOB, but at least he is OUR SOB."

Agreed. China plans for 100 years. That is what Confucius, Author of "The Analects" pointed out in his famous quote.

@sharwama992 I expect that. But better they fight among themselves AFTER China is told to take a hike, because if they keep fighting amongst themselves now, China will take everything.
2
How is Taiwan and the KMT colonial humiliation? It was the Chinese Nationalists who overthrew the Qing Dynasty and asserted independence from European colonialist ambitions.
2
Xiaoping had the humility to acknowledge weakness and when he or the CCP was wrong. Something both Mao and President Poohbear don't have.
2
@assertivekarma1909 What would it take to call them evil by your measurement? Was not the brutal crackdown of the student protests in Tiananmen Square enough? Was the disappearance of political dissidents not enough? Was welding people's doors shut and leaving them to starve to death in their apartments and home to prevent the spread of the Wuhan Flu not enough? Was the fascistic crushing of Hong Kong not enough? Is the forced sterilization of particular minorities not evil? What will the CCP have to do before you finally acknowledge that they are truly evil.

@merlingeikie Yeah, didn't Nero send the Legions down to the beach to collect seashells as "tribute" from Neptune after he swished his sword in the Mediterranean?
1
Not always. It was only during the late Ming Dynasty that mainland China first took control over the Island. Before then, the Mongolian Yuan Dynasty never controlled it. Neither did Song or Tang before them.

@thomassecurename3152 Yeah, it is sad that the members of ASEAN would much rather squabble among themselves rather than present a united front against China. If they agreed to temporarily set aside their individual disagreements and mutually agree that China has no claims, they could present that united front in the Parcel Islands and effectively push China out of the area.
1
Taipei has never acknowledged the Red Government as legitimate.
1
Nero did something similar. Had the Legions collect seashells on the beach as "tribute" from Neptune after swishing his sword in the Mediterranean.

If you have learned anything about communist, it is that they ALWAYS re-write history. "Good facts" which uphold the fictions of the CCP are always more correct than "real-facts" which contradict the narrative.
1
@hadtrio6629 Agreed. HISTORIC China first controlled it during the late Ming Dynasty. But the current Red Government is NOT the successor state to the Qing Dynasty despite their claims. That honor would fall to the Republic of China currently residing in Taipei.
1
@hadtrio6629 "Mandate of heaven" is anathema to China's official atheist stance. "Mandate of Heaven" is monarchal doctrine and runs counter to the official ideology of Communism. So, no, but the CCP's own standards, they do NOT nor cannot claim to be the legitimate successor because they reject on principle that which would give them such a claim. And no, it is NOT hypocritical of the West to point this out. It is holding them to their own standards.
1
@hadtrio6629 Apples to oranges false analogy. They are NOT the same and it is intellectually dishonest to claim that they are.
1
@hadtrio6629 Wrong. For one, the "independence movements" of Doneski and Luhansk is nothing more than what Russia did in Georgia with Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Nothing more than a pretext for stealing territory and rebuilding the old Soviet Empire. Your blatant disregard for that shows you are not acting in good faith. And for Catalonia, their beef with Madrid is NOTHING like the spat between Taipei and Beijing. But i get that you are completely ignorant of Franco's Spain and the history of that country since WW2. In short, you are guilty of doing exactly what you accuse me of doing. Your chronological snobbery makes your perspectives infantile and irrelevant.
1
@hadtrio6629 Again with more false analogies (logical fallacy) comparing apples to oranges. Typical response from an ideological partisan who doesn't actually care about facts. Oh, a Moor huh? Don't get me started on the brutal Invasion of Iberia by the Muslim Moors.
1
@manguanxu3612 Oh, I agree. China has historically been a colonizing power. Zheng He's treasure fleet was all about exerting colonial power over subject and vassal nations. And of course, Japan in the 1930s had colonialist expansionism, though they were quickly broken of those ambitions.
1
@manguanxu3612 Yeah, the classic deflection and logical fallacy of communist governments such as Red China's.
1
@tyquonjackson7728 Except, the UN is NOT a world governing body. Its "laws" have zero force backing it beyond those willing to use armed conflict.
