  1. Don't they already have a high-speed coastal line in Fujian? I've taken the Shanghai-Shenzhen high-speed line many times, and after Ningbo it follows the coast all the way down. Has that line reached capacity? Is this a specific line for Fuzhou-Xiamen? Anybody who can shed some light on this, I'd be very appreciative.

  2.  @zhelichen8058  Great, thanks very much for that info. So will the new line not pass by Shenzhen? Anyway, Shanghai-Guangzhou should be much faster, especially if we can go over Hangzhou Bay close to Ningbo.

  4. I think it would be the second deepest under-sea railway tunnel in the world, after the Seikan Tunnel in Japan. I think it's at least 80 meters deep in the shallowest place. Shallowest route would be Fuzhou to Taizhong, other routes would be even deeper.
