Yes, cuisines become more and more globalized. When I was a kid, we basically only had our own national food. Now there's food from so many countries in every city.

You're right. The chili pepper originates in South America, and was then spread by the Portuguese (or Spanish), first to Europe, then Africa, then Asia. Exactly when it arrived in Asia is hard to say, but probably in the early 16th century. It has certainly found great success here. Practically every South-, South-East-, and East Asian country is in love with chili.

@jungar4286 And when foreigners in China get fed up with local food, they run to McDonalds (or a pizza place, or steak house, or KFC, or French restaurant).
