  1. China hasn't used foreign expertise in bridge building for many years. Even as early as 1991, Yangpu Bridge in Shanghai was built entirely by local engineers. And long before then, when China DID need foreign expertise, it was mostly from the Soviet Union.

  4.  @nerostile333  I'm aware of this problem. I've lived here for many years and seen it with my own eyes. That doesn't change the fact that a mixture of sand, cement, and water is, by definition, concrete.

  6.  @noivalencia  Oh, they make them pretty well. These large engineering projects are generally up to international standards. And that tends to be the case with every country that undertakes such large scale projects. It's simply too expensive in the long run to skimp on quality.
