I thought KFC was 'the place to be' for kids in China 25 years ago. It's the place parents would take their kid on June 1st (Children's Day). Nevertheless, I agree that McDonald's has that comfort factor that many other restaurants lack: A clean, bright and colorful environment, heating in winter, cooling in summer, casual group dining, a great place to do your homework in peace. Purely anecdotally speaking, I feel McDonald's is getting more popular than KFC nowadays. I don't have any numbers to back that up, though.

@xinyiquan666 In McDonald's I rarely see kids. Mostly young adults, say 20-35 year-olds and lots of middle-aged people in the evenings. Very similar in KFC.
