If you're in the US, and you have a serious cancer, health insurance companies will decide it's more profitable to them if you simply die. Big corporations in the US quite literally profit off of death. This is why I maintain a travel warning against the US. If you get critically injured in the US, you have to choose between bankruptcy and death.
