All of the advice - solid. The young lady did not wish to speak with you, so you gave your time anyway. Generous. I think I would say this to any young person about the RAF. Understand how small/elite its become. There are very few seats and very few chances to get a shot at those seats. If you go for any interview, and I mean any - you better been bang on the money and you need to have put in the ground work. Even compared to the past, I would estimate that with so few seats being possible, its going to be a very very high bar to even get a look in. @FastJetPerformance I think most people have forgotten how large the RAF was, even in years where the UK was broke. Or let me put it another way. A total of 890 Meteors were lost in RAF service (145 of these crashes occurring in 1953 alone), resulting in the deaths of 450 pilots. That's more than double current RAF plane numbers in total, and the deaths would equate to a 1-1 or worse loss of pilots. (Assuming 400 planes/400 pilots). Not long after WW2 and in an era of still rationed poverty. So - yea, to have a shot a seat today, you are gonna in theory need to not just be cream of the crop, but cream of the cream, and then some.
