  5. If Putin is dying of old age or cancer or something, he would totally launch a nuke. He doesn't care about people, once his time is up he'd be happy to get one final hoorah even if it is suicidal. Nothing we can do about that though. Assassination would set a precedent history won't be kind of reminding us, capitulation would prompt aggressors worldwide to follow the same tactic too. There are no winners in Russian roulette. Our best hope is Putin gives the order to launch but his people abandon his final orders. We are therefore best advised to stop with the constant cold war propaganda and treat the people of Russia with the dignity they deserve. Just a thought.

  8. Putin's official reason for invading was self defense against Nazis, not nato encroachment. He invaded Crimea based on discrimination of Russian locals too, and China has already shown their imperial thirst by invading Tibet, Mongolia, reneging on the Hong Kong agreement, and also claiming the entire S China sea. If Russia gets out of this with sanctions lifted and new territory China will follow suit and Russia will commit a fifth invasion in its tender 30-year history... Imho, if an unprovoked invasion isn't cause for all out world defense then how can we be at all critical of my grandfather's generation who didn't stop Hitler until 7 years too late when it was obvious to us all today that matters would only escalate at the price of countless lives and incalculable human suffering. Unprovoked attacks especially when Russia denied setting up troops at the border for months for any invasion, then shelling civilian buildings is hands down crimes against humanity just like Hitler. When over 100,000 people die for no reason I'd say a line has been crossed already and I don't see how anyone could make the argument that my position is subjective if they really stop to think about it rationally.

Seems more likely to me that smuggling chips like Russia would be good at (especially counterfeit goods as their friendly neighbour China is best at...) before they'd buy appliance to strip for parts. Why wouldn't they just fill the machines with chips instead of moving boatloads of metal drums? That makes no sense at all lol

  10. Reality is just what it looks like - as long as NATO exists he has every intention to destabilize the Eurozone so long as it doesn't spark a war the smaller eu countries will be giving the eu leaders a lot of grief over membership security assurances lol.

  12.  @archief1  Do you really think the Iranians are hurting because of a lack of trade with the USA? It's certainly more to do with their policies. Case in point, the US's main exports like oil and entertainment and tech the persians don't even want in their country because it would subvert their authority. Iran doesn't miss hardly anything without business with the West, just some exotic fruits, weapons and Christian bibles.

  13.  @archief1  That has nothing to do with western technology. They have access to China's manufacturing and almost nothing industrial needs a 5nm process node. ARM and RISC-V are out there and open to engineer too. The West doesn't actually produce useful goods beyond oil, they just don't have branded iPhones... which probably means that have better national OPSEC than non-sanctioned countries lol. We in the West also use Russian technology for nuclear power plants, just not russian chips because we use Windows XP instead, which says a lot about both countries and says even more about the uselessness of sanctions.

  14. Putin doesn't have much logical incentive to take things this far either, that's the problem. We can't rely on logic or reason when Putin is forcing kids to murder their neighbouring countrymen without a political mechanism to stop the insanity. The combattants are even victims, like North Korea and Israel
