  2. I sincerely believe there's a good chance chip makers want ai to slow down because Moore's Law and diminishing returns are getting expensive. That's the same tragedy of the Commons, but where the players and pieces are reversed. Competing with other companies leveraging ai is getting too expensive for them all. Nvidia and amd showed in their ways they're not interested in sharing generational price/performance gains anymore, "now you pay for gpu compite linearly". The real reason we should avoid ai is the failing education system. When people are electing Donald Trump and shooting up schools to the point politicians suggest solving these with armed guards, metal detectors, and locking groups of people inside of buildings 5 days a week. A world where people don't read and they're too busy to clean, be a parent, exercise or cook - but who find the time to watch tv for 5 hours a day. Ai in the hands of lazy idiots is the real threat, just as much as in the hands of someone powerful and nefarious imho. Accidents will be magnified at least as much as solves.
