If they're passive then why don't we just not allow them to secure the voting rights? It would be such a simple solve to give workers with pensions a small vote once their stake crosses a 1-share threshold, and executives could buy shares with their salaries like everyone else. Being paid in stock is just license to pay half as much in taxes and introduces conflict of interest in conducting their business. I hate how people pretend a complicated system is more complicated than it actually is. It is complex, but it's not incomprehensible by any means.
