potatis97 Some Audis can be set up for under steer and can be a bit uninspiring to drive. You have obviously never driven an RS. I have had the rare pleasure of driving both the C6 and C7 uninspiring was not the words that sprung to mind, more like OMFG! The C7 RS6 is a car that really handles and grip levels are almost hard to take in. There is a technique of getting the max from AWD vehicles of this nature. I began to get the hang of it although I'm no expert but it was late breaking into bends , balancing on throttle and then let loose the dogs of war early out of the corner which is way earlier than a RWD car could or even should, It is intoxicating and inspires confidence. If I drove the Merc in that way "drifting" as you put it, I would probably be deceased by now. It would have lost its rear end grip as you watched the rear of the RS6 disappearing out of the corner and up the road. You wouldn't be able to rely of the 6.2 litre to make the ground up as the RS6 V8 has a very flat torque curve that keeps it accelerating. Really and truly I the RS6 is a monstrously fast point to point all weather vehicle, and sounds amazing with exhaust valves open on full chat and the overrun sound on down shifts is just awesome. If you look at the Auto Express "road test" test against the Latest Nissan GTR it was noticeable that the Technological wonder that is the totally sports focussed Nissan could not shake off the RS6 which is after all a station wagon

Yeah I totally agree point to point in all weather the RS6 is the one I would be in.

+Bartie96 "the e63 s model and cls 63 s model have been tested to go 0-60 in 3.2 seconds both engines pushing up to 680 horsepower, it will demolish any other german ccompetition other than a 911 turbo/turbo s" Trouble with the Brutal Merc's is that they have huge engines rear wheel drive and little or no sophistication. This makes for great drifting cars but in the real world as all conditions point to point high performance cars, they are nothing short of flying hearses and will more likely kill you as the rear end slide turns your initial grin to a look of sheer terror! The RS6 puts its power down in so much more effectively and is just a more intelligent approach.

but it isn't! Audi Claim 3.9 0-62. Under favourable conditions with a good launch it should be possible to better the factory figures, give this family estate some credit...........

Umar Khan please remember the Nissan and Ferrari are designed for one thing, the RS6 is after all a station wagon for goodness sake. The autoexpress tested the GtR agaibtscthe RS6 and yes it was a faster but not by as much as it should have been given its focus and on the twisty leaf littered normal roads in the A-B sprint the Gtr couldn't shake the RS6 of its tail. I know you love you mercs but get a grip man

My guess is you wouldn't have said anything if the C63 saloon had won

If you listen to the Merc lovers, they all said the E63 would beat the RS6, I believe the S8 would smoke the Merc too! You cant have it all ways. Lets face it They take different approaches the Merc with 6.2litres and tyre smoke and the Audi with a supreme piece of automotive magic that is the Twin Turbo 4.2L TFSI engine and a powertrain that has become the bench mark for utilizing torque. The Merc really is a relic and this is where I agree with you, it was never going to be close!

What's amazing about this video is how weak the take offs were didn't seem like a race at all.
1
why not race them after all the merc has a hugely bigger engine but the Audi has the tech
1
Umar Khan if your logic was followed you would just race E63 against E63 and RS6 v RS6 etc etc etc.....

Umar Khan why so what I saw a road and performance test of an RS6 v Nissan GTR so what. I saw a S8 v Panamera so what. Don't get so exercised they are all performance cars. you don't have to be pinned into pigeon holes. if the car gets smoked it shows the differences. if the car performs unexpectedly well like in an apparent mismatch well that's interesting to. you need to chill my friend. I know you like your Merc's but just because it loses a drag race it's not the end of the world. I like fast Audits but I'm realistic enough to understand they can't win them all either. I don't respect and like the marque any less. it's all just interesting and different comparisons.

vpkeremedchiev it's all about traction. You can have 1000hp but it's of little use if all you do is light up the rear wheels ala merc or Beemer. Audi is also well known for understating the power output, see the Dyno test on the S8!! The clue is its the same power unit. If it can pull the A8 to 62 in 3.5 seconds, it is more than capable of going sub 3.5 in the smaller lighter A6 avant. Also bear in mind the Lamborghini is engineered by Audi...

Well said

How's that then?.......discuss

please enlighten us Auto Express say not and its simply stock so please tell us

Maybe in drifting competition but point to point all weathers in the real world, there would only be one winner. Probably resulting in a fatality as the rear wheel drive does its best to fling the driver closer to his or her maker trying to stay with the RS6
1
what is noticeable is that theC63 gets off the line before the RS6 and doesn't spin its rear wheels but the fact that the Audi is over 3 seconds faster is amazing for a an estate.

trefod Probably due to the torque curve 560Nm available from 1950rpm with no drop off until 5600rpm. That translates to sustained, unrelenting acceleration. I have travelled in an RS6 in the last couple of weeks as a passenger but regrettably the owner was too responsible to unleash it all, however he did set it up so that the exhaust valves were doing their thing; the sound was epic especially on the down paddle shifts where it gives a little throttle blip before the electronic change down. I felt its power delivery a little on the rare occasion we had some open road and a couple of lorries to pass 50 to ahem 90+ in what seemed like no seconds It was intoxicating for me as a passenger, I must imagine it could easily take you over and turn you into a speed junky if you were susceptible. That its all wrapped up in a very cosseting cloak makes this a Q car you don't mess with.

SIMcityplayer2002 omg just loved the c6 it would be close there is no doubt about it. My money is still on the C7 as it simply flies the 0-62 over a second quicker than C6 and would maybe have too much of a lead for the mighty C6 to make up. If someone wanted to give a C6 though, I'd be blown away.😎😋😋😎
