Three shelves of religious books! Wow! That's a lot of NOISE! hahaha...There's a well-entrenched academic arrogance that downplays what it disparages as "merely anecdotal" personal individual EXPERIENCE. Conventional philosophers spend a lot of time comparing their own ideas to those of other philosophers (i.e. reading books). What I almost never hear is a description of the individual philosopher's personal experience USING his ideas! "Ideas aren't for using; they're just for looking at..."...Ok, your beautiful ideas have perfected your understanding! Now what! Can you USE them?!

Any cogent, coherent system will "work". But elements of one system don't necessarily complement any other system; I mean, "comparative religion" is an analytic framework meant to facilitate study; it doesn't indicate comparative equivalence. Some elements may be held in common, while the systems themselves remain incompatible with each other. There is a COMMON ORIGIN, though: all spiritual systems address the same fundamental concerns of the individual human being.
