  1. "Think of the children!" is a direct "appeal to emotion" logic fallacy. Stupid people fall for it. Children are an infinitely renewable resource, so forget about it! They just want you to feel instead of think.

The tactic was to "primary" vulnerable democrats, running against them, catching them by surprise. Their snoozing constituents were overwhelmed by the organized leftist voters.
