I think we'll find early kneelers were plants, fakes; but anyone who thought it was real was motivated to follow along! hahaha...the joke's on them...they might as well be wearing "kick me" signs...

Do you get support from people honestly, through clear presentation of your purpose in gentle persuasion; or, do you try to FOOL people into giving support, by lying about your intent solely to persuade them?! When you want support more than anything, the latter option is attractive, even if unethical. And it DOES work. Seems the only thing about the straightforward, honest approach is in the quality of adherent: when you've been honestly and gently persuaded, chances are good you'll REMAIN persuaded. People who are willing to manipulate and deceive are society-destroying influences...they promote destruction and abolition in place of reformation.
