  1. The communist ideal is The Matrix: worker bees happy with their working/playing lives. The happiness is an illusion that wears off about the time most people are expected to die...no problem...they can't harm the system--all without "God". That may be achievable as an end state, but, in the mean time, people need purpose to flavor their usually-menial existence. That flavor, that SPICE, becomes the means to control them. And the controllers, in evolving their control system, affect the political climate, often directly and powerfully. The Catholic Church is a case in point. Two sides to every coin...a mixed bag...you take the good with the bad...until I run out of cliches...hahaha
