The label game only works until you get wise to it. But language requires that we play. "Labeling" is the popular activity of "identification", which is the preliminary step in the scientific method. However, "labels" are simplistic identifications, poorly delineated, serving stereotypic thinking--and the prevailing narrative. They tend to obscure as much as elucidate. Their efficacy lies in their "hot button" value: you don't understand as much as you FEEL. The effect is directive: you are motivated by what you feel more than by what you know, so...you don't have to think. How nice...for "them"!
