The light went out...hmm...idk, that light was fake: the world was a little brighter when we could naively presume that everyone possesses a base level of sanity; the light of reality dawning, we see that, indeed, not everyone, by a long shot, possesses a basic grounding in reason. It hurts a little to grow up, but it's worth it, since the alternative is stupid.
