It all looks good to me: the de-sensitization of terminology is long overdue, and to a degree forced this delay. Pressurized terminology (words forced to contain more/different significance than they can properly accommodate) arises euphemistically: "since you don't like to hear, 'Negro', because it makes you 'feel bad', we will allow you to misappropriate the term, 'black', to assuage your apparently-important discomfort." Now after some time managing "black"'s addition nuance baggage, it's natural for resentment to begin to set in at having to continually manage this nuance, as well as its inverse manifested in the term, "Negro". It's a perfectly scientific term, but try using it!
The pressurized term of the day is, "racist". The more it is used/abused/heard the more pressurized it becomes, until...it "explodes", divesting itself of any and all meaning; it loses it's emotional charge AND its baggage; it returns, purified, to normal English usage.
