  1. Powers are vying for ascendency in the region; Syria is just a piece of the puzzle. Nuclear weapons exist in the region (at least Israel). The region sports very low IQ populaces. The region supplies a large proportion of the world's oil. Idk, looks like big-time trouble to me.
