  1. The effort to give children "rights" is misguided in the extreme, from a rational perspective. It does serve the woke agenda, but confuses the issue of responsibility for the parents. But more than that, it feels to parents like they are raising their children FOR THE STATE, at considerable legal risk to themselves--risk for which they will not be compensated. Slave breeders! No, the state would love to own and control your children, at least as well as they own and control YOU. But the inconsistencies in the relevant legalities render state control of your children legally problematic. Parents are legally responsible for the actions of their minor children. Therefore, child behavior is disciplined. The manner and style of that discipline has become a matter of some litigation, establishing certain "rights" for minor--not having reached the age of majority as legally defined--children. The principles of "majority age" and "parental responsibility" clearly oppose the principle of "child rights".
