  1. "Vetting" is a JOKE! Sounds real good, but what is it? It's a few people looking around for information! What will they find! When will they stop looking? When they have "confidence"! A damn poor measure, if you ask me! What do YOU think when you see a government functionary say he has "concerns" that dictate his pronouncements? Do you think, "Well, he's really smart, since he's a politician and knows extra stuff, so there must be good reason for his concerns, and his pronouncements are, therefore, worthy of obedience"? That's what he's counting on when he doesn't explain his "concerns" sensibly, if at all. There's no important difference between anybody in government and the guy next door--same drives, same weaknesses, same biases. Don't allot them a greater respect than they deserve, 'cause they will use it to their personal advantage, as most would, given the opportunity.
