  1. I disagree: freedom of press is a subset of freedom of speech, an adjunct, since it is speech that produces press material. I think the press freedom was listed explicitly in order to avoid the very interpretation you just offered: speech is only interpersonal talking. Not so. Similarly, religion, petition, assembly are all extensions of SPEECH. The point is the manner of conveyance of "speech" is protected, for without conveyance of speech there is, effectively, no speech possible. Even talking uses air as the conveyance mechanism; even lip-reading requires a conveyance: light, vision.

  2. I don't see facebook and the like collapsing since a lot of people would rather have the censored experience as it is more comfortable. I know people who profess to have to interest in "politics", which turns out to be history, past and current; I have difficulty respecting their intelligence. I think this pitiful demographic may well be large enough to sustain these "social media" entities--or at least so the story will go.
