  1. They distinguish between "sex" and "gender": sex is biological; gender is societal/psychological. This distinction comes from academic perspectives which find utility in expanded definitions and the resultant abstraction. This distinction is just not applicable to real world considerations. But I guess they have fun trying, anyway...
