Yeah - I was impressed at how fast I could write applications in Python - in that respect it's quite neat. And there are some lovely libraries for it. But performance was not great. I used Python successfully as a serial comms driver to MQTT converter. The speed of the application was restricted by the serial IO comms speed, so the performance of Python itself wasn't an issue. The results don't really surprise me, to be honest. I do think it's quite a neat language though.
