What continues to baffle me is why the educated elite think big government stealing your money through taxation is OK. Maybe they have good educations but certainly seem to lack basic common sense.

The only way to revitalize Gary, or an other depressed manufacturing town, is to bring back the industry and jobs.

For what it's worth, Trump carried Indiana in 2016.

In NE PA construction is all over the place as well as people remodelling and repairing their homes and businesses. Obviously people have money to spend.

@georgelux126 It was mentioned by Katrina how many parts of Indiana are blue despite the democrats having done nothing, for the most part, for economically challenged areas of the country, especially inner cities. But, in the end, the state was smart enough to give a majority to Trump. Next election they need to get rid of more democrats.

@georgelux126 The people making the big money are those that design and build the robots!

@jayv5093 The Nordic countries are a fraction of the size of the US. Same for their populations. that makes a huge difference. You're not going to run a huge country like the US with over 300 million people the way small Nordic countries are run. I endorse small government and low taxes. let people run their own lives not having some huge, bloated, inefficient bureaucracy telling us what to do. That's not how the United States operates.

@jayv5093 I don't know where you get your math from, but "properly taxing" the richest Americans would be a drop in the bucket compared to the amount of money socialists such as Sanders need to give "free everything" to the masses. If it were that simple we would have done it long ago. You could seize everything the top 1% has and it wouldn't be enough. Sooner or later massive tax increases will trickle down to the middle class. There's no other way to get the money. Sanders is talking taxation rates as high as 90% on some people. The point is moot as no one on the left presently competing for the presidency will be elected. When Woodrow Wilson initiated an income tax in 1913 the rate was 1%. Now we're talking 60-90%? That's insanity. Government is bloated, wasteful, inefficient, corrupt and out of control. So we're going to give them even more power? It won't get my vote.

@jayv5093 So you think it's OK for government to confiscate money from people, even if it's someone highly successful? If you make 10 million a year running a successful business or advancing in a company, you should give 7 million of it to the government , per force, to hand out to people government has decided deserve your money more than you do? You must be kidding if you think that's a fair plan. It doesn't matter because it's not happening.
